THE
BATTLE OF MOUNT SORREL, JUNE 1916.
Appendix to the War Diary Extracts of the 131st
Brigade R.F.A. Headquarters
Map: Ypres
28 NW 4, Belgian Chateau, situated to the South West of Ypres.

“ Belgian
Chateau was used as either Bde or Bn HQs during the war. There was a small
cemetery of 12 UK and 11 Canadians buried there but they were moved after the
war to Perth (China Wall) Cemetery. According to CWGC (Belgian
Battery Corner Cemetery) sources "Belgian Chateau" is described less
grandly as a "house", but from the map it looks like the grounds
might have been quite large(?). About 600 yards to the East of Belgian
Chateau is Belgian Battery Corner Cemetery. There are 420 CWGC graves
there with half being artillery unit casualties.”
